500Rai Floating Resort

My partner and I stayed 2 nights at 500 Rai in a private villa room and we had an absolutely lovely time! We would highly recommend this unique experience and in the most beautiful place we have seen in Asia! You will be greeted with kind and smiling staff that are willing to help you with any concerns and there are amazing facilities. If we weren’t on one of the tours we were in the beautiful waters off our villa either swimming or in our private kayak. We loved the afternoon wildlife tour and saw lots of animals including hornbills, bison, deer, monkeys and eagles! Our favourite tour was the cave trek, where you first take a 40 min boat ride that is absolutely stunning and then you get to see a truly untouched cave that is actively growing and so beautiful! We also enjoyed every meal we chose during our stay. Lunch and dinner were 3 course meals and breakfast was so good! They have options for everyone, Western and Thai! Overall, we highly enjoyed our time and would love to do it again one day, this is not something to miss in Southern Thailand! Group of four stayed here Dec 15-17 in two deluxe rooms. I found the resort to be lovey (think "adult summer camp") and the facilities were totally acceptable for a floating resort in the middle of nowhere. I thought the staff were supremely kind and helpful, and did their best to get to know us over the course of our stay. Phu was especially affable and we enjoyed our cooking class with him. Not every meal was a home run nor were the kayaks in phenomenal shape but for the money we had a 10/10 experience.

I stayed at 6 other hotels / bed&breakfasts throughout Thailand over 2 weeks and this place was the most disappointing. Additionally, I paid at least double or even three times more for this "luxury resort" than I did other places but this felt way less luxurious than my other stays. The rooms are gorgeous and clean, amazing views. And it's great you can use the kayaks. But other than that, this place wasn't great. I would recommend saving your money and just doing one of the less expensive bungalows elsewhere on the lake. Also don't spend your money on the wildlife tour, you won't see anything. The food was just okay, I feel like they charged you a lot for things, like very limited wifi without paying for it. The staff just generally seemed very disorganized, like there was no good management. Unprofessional seeming and not great hospitality. I stayed in other places that weren't luxury resorts but those places went above and beyond to accommodate and help us. Here, they couldn't be bothered. For example, we carried our own bags on and off the boat which was rather difficult, they brought our bags to the pier without letting us know, they acted like we were inconviencing them when we wanted to take the 130pm boat back instead of the morning one. Overall I just felt like the staff couldn't care we were there and just wanted us gone.

Highly recommended. Manager is nice, staff is helpful and cheerful. Food is very good too. No worry for 3 days of stay. Escape and stay away from the Internet. Disconnected is good to recharge your mind. For the cost, I think it is reasonable for such a remote area. Remember to purchase BIG money at the pier when you arrive. Will save a lot.

The location in the heart of the lake is exceptional and the staff is very professional and helpful. Nothing else to add here, the rest is to forget - very expensive resort, bad facilities, not so fresh food. Price absolutely not in line with the quality of the offer - also considering the costs for meals at the property and excursions, all for a fee (with really out-of-market prices). The kitchen, except for the breakfast which was decent, not at all in line with the cost of the dishes and the property - plus I think the meat is not properly preserved or not fresh. I travelled for 20 days before arriving here and only here had stomach problems

Very disappointed. I was honestly shocked at what this hotel offered for the price they charge. It’s really a 3 star hotel, wooden floating bunker, with horrible breakfast.. the location is nice and the staff is lovely but this is one of the most expensive hotels in all of Thailand 😂 and the accommodation screams $40/night. Please note there are a lot of other fees. 1000THB you need to pay for the boat to even get there.. all of the tours you do if you want to get off the resort is all extra 1,500THB and in plus you need to pay park fee, pier fee, this just didn’t make any sense for me and therefor I can not recommend. Also if you don’t get the VILLA you have AC only from 12am-6am and the days are HOT without any place to sit by the pool that has any shade.. no AC in restaurant either so if you’re prone to heatstroke - please get Villa or better yet stay in a nice hotel outside and do a day tour of the national park :)
